Carlene Dastrup
ELC Director
Mrs. Dastrup has been employed at American Preparatory Academy since 2015. Her current position is Administrative Director at the Early Learning Center. Before working at APA, she worked for an adoption agency as an adoptive family case manager for 15 years. While studying at the University of Utah, she began dating her husband of 39 years. They have three married children and six grandchildren. Mrs. Dastrup's hobbies include boating, water and snow skiing, paddle boarding, pickleball, and biking. Anything that has to do with the outdoors!
Ms. Dastrup is passionate about the goal of the Early Learning Center which is to introduce the preschool and kindergarten students to the wonderful world of education and instill the love of learning to all those that attend there.

KrisAn Miles
Assistant ELC Director
Mrs. Miles attended Ricks College and BYU. She graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in History in 2004. She is a proud APA parent and got hired in spring of 2017 because she volunteered so much. She has been a groups instructor, classroom instructor, off campus teacher, and curriculum specialist. She is currently the assistant director at the ELC. She loves APA both as an employee and as a parent. She and her husband have been married 14 years and have three daughters.

Ary Saguilan
Kindergarten Teacher
Ms.Saguilan began working at American Preparatory Academy as an Instructor in 2016, and in 2020 became a Kindergarten Teacher. She's working on her Bachelor’s of Elementary Education at WGU. She loves teaching at APA, and seeing the growth and excitement of her kindergarten students! In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, dogs and friends.

Hailey Curtis
Kindergarten Instructor
Hailey Curtis is a full-time student at Salt Lake Community College majoring in Elementary Education. She is looking forward to transferring to the University of Utah next fall, to continue her education and pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. This is Hailey’s second year being an instructor at American Preparatory Academy and she is very excited for another incredible school year. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, doing crafts, and traveling.

Breanne Shelley
Kindergarten Instructor
Ms. Shelley has received her associates degree from Snow College and is currently studying Psychology at BYU. She has spent two years working as a paraprofessional in the North Sanpete County School District before joining the American Preparatory Academy team last year. In her spare time, she likes to read, spend time with family, and enjoys being outside.

Becca Ekberg
Groups Instructor
This is my first year here at APA as a groups instructor & I love it! The kids are wonderful & I love being around their contagious positivity & humor. I am currently going to school through BYUI & will transfer to WGU to finish my bachelor’s degree in education. In my free time I am outdoors hiking, hammocking, spending time with family, playing volleyball, & in moderation, enjoying a nice bowl of popcorn.

Kandra Pearson

My name is Kandra Pearson, I started working at APA over 10 years starting at the west valley 1 campus. I was also one of the first students to attend American Prep when it opened in 2003. Teaching is a passion of mine! When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling the world, attending concerts and shopping.

Alexis Brennan
Preschool Instructor
Alexis Brennan recently joined the APA family but has been a proud APA mom for a few years. Before joining the APA family Alexis was a seamstress, refurbished dressers, and self published a children's book with her older brother. In her spare time she enjoys being with family, long naps, and shopping. She has been married to her wonderful husband for 11 years and they have two beautiful children together.
