Back in January, sculptor Sabin Howard visited our American Prep Draper 1 students — and we had no idea we were witnessing the early chapters of something historic.
Sabin is now building the Grand Liberty Arch — a 60-foot bronze monument to American history, approved for a site above Utah's State Capitol and planned for completion by the 2034 Winter Olympics. It features 56 figures, an eternal flame, and panels depicting everything from the Revolutionary War to space exploration.
But before the monument makes its mark on the world, it made one on our kids.
He walked them through the design process. He brought the actual models, helping define the monument's figures. He talked about what it means to tell a story through sculpture — and why America's story is worth telling at this scale.
That's the kind of education that doesn't come from a textbook.
We're proud to be partnering with Sabin Howard to develop lessons and programs that bring this monument to life for students — including opportunities to recite founding texts and perform at the monument itself.
History isn't just something our students read. It's something they're being prepared to carry forward. 🇺🇸
